Here's the valve cover I cleaned up for the Inari Jetta. First, I sand blasted it with my old venturi-style sandblaster. Next, I hand sanded the cover starting with 100 grit paper. I then moved to 220 grit and finished with 320 grit. The last step, before painting, was to clean the cover with Marine Clean and prep the surface with an acid-based etcher such as Metal Ready. The acid-based etcher will give the metal a "profile" that permits paint to bond better to the surface. Marine Clean and Metal Ready are both available from www.por15.com. I'll post some pictures of the finish product as soon as it dries.
